GreenPrint: paper saving software
GreenPrint is a nifty quick download that maximizes your printer's output to save on paper and ink. There's a version for Windows (free) and a version for Macs (which costs $29 and has a 30 day free trial). Either version of the software highlights and removes unwanted pages, creates PDFs with one click (OK, that's worth it right there), helps you decide what to print and not to print, and keeps a tally of paper, trees, and money saved. How neat is that?

We installed this on 5 public PCs as a trial and recently took it off after months of trying to get people to use it. It caused so much confusion, we got complaints, and people ended up printing things multiple times trying to get it right. :(

Thanks for the recommendation Sara! One clarification, though. GreenPrint is useful not just for printing from webpages, but from anything - Word documents, emails, etc. P.S. Don't print emails as a general rule :)

i recently spent several hours with greenprint tech support people because it would not work with my machine. in the end, they figured it was some kind of conflict with my anti-virus. i ultimately did purchase the product for my library internet computers, but have yet to install it because of the problems it had on my office machine. i'm hoping it's compatible with deepfreeze. . .

I downloaded this about 6 months ago and finally uninstalled it because it was so irritating. The problem was that each time you print to it, it has to load. For some reason, it would get hung up somewhere around 34% and I would have to log off my desktop and then back in to make the little splash screen go away. The PDF feature is nice but I just use Cute PDF Writer now and its just as easy.
The thing I'm trying out now is PrintWhatYouLike.com. You just go to their page, paste in the URL of the page you want to edit, edit using sidebar, then print. The fact that its all done in browser is nice because I don't print webpages enough to need a whole application.
