LibGig: LinkedIn for libraries only

There is a new libraries job site: LibGig.  Employers can post job ads and job hunters can peruse available positions.  From their description:

"LibGig is a new professional networking website dedicated to bringing together everyone who accesses, organizes, creates, manages, produces or distributes information for a living. Our goal is to establish a common, human link within the enormous and multi-faceted information industry through dialogue, interaction and sharing of interesting stories, as well as dynamic and exclusive content that encourages feedback and debate"

It is, of course, in beta.  So stay tuned for updates, improvements, and changes.  After all, that's what a beta phase is for.

Do not want.

Which is to say, do we really need an exclusive site for library jobs? Shouldn't libraries be advertising positions to attract a larger pool of candidates?

I say yes for two reasons. One - by advertising a librarian position to a larger pool you're also marketing profession and the (your) library. Two - there are highly qualified people out there who, although aren't on the "library track", could be an asset to our profession that this sites like this exclude.
