Article about Marketing to Teens

Anastasia Goodstein has written an excellent article for School Library Journal: "What Would Madison Avenue Do? Marketing to Teens."  As the title suggests, she provides some sound tips on helping teens understand what the library can do for them.  After all, that's what it's all about with any user group: what we can do for them to make their lives easier and more enriched.  That's our mission; it's why we exist.  And Ms. Goodstein offers her ideas for the Millenial generation.  Some of the tips might seem obvious, but if they really are that obvious, why aren't we all doing these things already?  A good example of this is her last tip, a practice we often neglect:

I’ve saved my strongest marketing tip for last: the best way to discover teen trends is also the most obvious—just ask them. As librarians, you have the kind of access to young people that most marketers would pay big bucks for. Enjoy the advantage.
