Free Flickr accounts for good causes
TechSoup has partnered up with Flickr to donate 1,000 one-year pro subscriptions to Flickr "for good causes." How nice! How often is it that you hear about people giving away something righteously useful and awesome...? Read more on the official Flickr for Good site or the TechSoup site about the project. In terms of eligibility, this is what they say:
While we know there are many individuals and groups who use Flickr for good, at this time, this program is only available to qualifying non-profit organizations who are duly registered as such in Canada, and USA, with additional countries in the future.
So, umm, libraries are non-profits. And if we're not, our Friends groups probably qualify. Read clarifying note below from Sara Washburn: "*Public libraries are eligible!* Both public libraries AND non-profits can participate, not just public libraries that have a 501(c)3 distinction." And also think about your other non-profits (you know, like in your personal non-library life?). There is a lot of potential here.

Thank you for clarifying that, and I'll make a note in the post to that effect as well. Yay for library eligibility!

Hi Sarah,
Thanks so much for posting about this exciting partnership with Flickr. Unfortunately, there's one, major mistake that appears on the Flickr for Good site, that I'd like to clear up here:
*Public libraries are eligible!*
Both public libraries AND non-profits can participate, not just public libraries that have a 501(c)3 distinction. (there's more info on the TechSoup eligibility requirements page)
So yes, Friends groups and the like, AND the library buildings, too! (woohoo!) :)
