Second Life Resources

There is a lot going on in Second Life right now.  Check out David Lee King's work for his library (Topeka Shawnee County Library).  They have a storefront in Cybrary City and have been talking about what they can do with it.  The discussions can help all libraries thinking about obtaining a presence in this online community.  He even has a video and some photos of what they've been doing!

Additionally, Rich Hoeg has posted a list of useful how-to guides on creating content in Second Life.  He covers topics like making chairs, notecards, teleport links, and a lot more.  A great list for those of us still relatively new to SL!

Cindy Elkhart and BrianA Corleone set up the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library Virtual Branch from the ground up... literally. Kudos to them for their work on this project which is a great resource on Topeka, Kansas and services available through the Public Library.

The Topeka Shawnee County Library is an excellent example on how a library can offer such a wealth of resources in a small space. Being a SL librarian, I personally saw all the work so many people put into the space, especially SL residents Cindy Elkhart and BrianA Corleone. They were one of the first public libraries I saw in Second Life. I can't wait to see who else pops up!
