Librarians television series
Just in case you're not aware, ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corp.) is coming out with a television series (comedy-drama) based on the life of librarians: The Librarians. I know...are they crazy? You can't say on prime time half the things that get said by our users! It's being produced in Australia like, well, everything else nowadays.
The six-part series centres on the trials and tribulations of Frances O'Brien, a devout Catholic and head librarian. Her life unravels when she is forced to employ her ex-best friend, Christine Grimwood - now a drug dealer - as the children's librarian. Frances must do all she can to contain her menacing past and concentrate on the biggest event of the library calendar - Book Week.
A drug dealing children's librarian? Book Week as a big event? Wow...they really aren't doing their research, are they? (Well, maybe about the drug dealing children's librarian...at least out here in the San Francisco Bay Area) :P

As an Australian librarian I'll be tuning in... weird as the few details provided actually sound, the assembled cast are a funny, talented bunch so it'll be interesting to see what they come up with.
Don't worry you won't see it, our American cousins. There's always the Youtubes.

Yes, snail and others, you're right to point that out. The ABC annotation has been added for clarification.

Wow it boggles my brain to imagine how the show made through all the flaming rings a proposal must pass through on its way to becoming a full-on TV show. It's worth mentioning that the ABC in question is the Australian Broadcast Corp. Australia: loving their libraries in the southern hemisphere

ABC=Australian Broadcasting Company. I doubt we'll see it here . . .

That's a different ABC--the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Thus, it's highly unlikely that Stateside folk will be able to see this show, at least over the air.

That sounds bad, and I haven't even seen it. We'll see how long before cancellation. I say they will be lucky if they don't get canned before the end of their first season. Oh, wait, only six parts, huh? Maybe it will suffer the fate of certain hideous Star Wars Christmas special.

GIANT WTF?!
"We are thrilled to be making The Librarians. With 25,000 books on set we have fabricated the perfect excuse to extend our summer reading, added to which, the children's library is very handy for cheap childcare," said Robyn.

It's probably worth pointing out that this is the taxpayer funded Australian ABC and not to be confused with the US version.
