LibriVox: free audiobooks in multiple languages
LibriVox, a collection of free volunteer-created audio books, has grown quite a bit since I first blogged about it in September of 2005. The Centered Librarian alerted me to the fact that their collection of non-English titles has grown quite a bit. You can find audiobooks in Chinese, French, German and other languages.

Yes, that is my understanding of copyright law. Unless the book is out of copyright, reading out out loud and recording it is violating copyright.

This is pretty cool what they have done at LibriVox. I read their "copyright" statement and it said that while a copyright is in force, no one can make an audio transcript of a book. Is this your understanding as well? So, this would mean that having people read books out loud to others and recording it would be against copyright?
