Wedding Bells for Librarian in Black

The Librarian in Black is now a married woman.  Last weekend I was married in a small private ceremony here in beautiful Marin, at which a few close friends and family were present.  I decided to go with a hyphenated name, so I will henceforth be known as Sarah Houghton-Jan.

So, to sum up:
Sarah is married.
Sarah Houghton = Sarah Houghton-Jan
Any questions?

No, no, really, I sent the gift last week. What? It didn't arrive yet?" *Can't think of anything else witty to say and ambles out of room, looking at the floor*

Seriously though Sarah, nice work and many, many wishes for happiness for both of you.

Congratulations!

And welcome to the Hyphenated Librarians Club. (Is "hyphenated librarians" hyphenated?)

Oh yes, Mr. Jan wears a lot of black too, though not exclusively.

Yay! Congrats! The small wedding ceremonies are the best -- the most "real" and intimate. I hope your married life is as joyful as mine has been thus far. :)

Hyphenated names are cool--and I'm glad everyone else got here before me, so now I know all about the pronunciation, dress color, etc., and can avoid sounding overly curious by asking. :-) Congratulations and best wishes for the future!

So...the Librarian in Black in White? (There's a horribly corny joke in my head, but I'll spare everyone.)

Congratulations!

So, two thumbs up:

Stephen is happy to hear.

No questions.

People just want to see the black wedding dress. ;)

Posted by: Steve Lawson | August24, 2006

I did not wear black, as that was one battle with my mother I did not want to fight. I wore a sleeveless floor-length plain silver silk evening gown. There was black underneath the gown, so I kept true to my moniker at some level :)

Jan like Jan :) I'm the only one in our family with Swedish blood.

Posted by: Sarah Houghton (LiB) | August24, 2006

Congratulations!!! But I have just one small question ... did you wear white? or keep with tradition and wear black?

Posted by: Helene Blowers | August24, 2006

Mazel tov to the both of you. Is that Jan like "jan" or Jan like "yon" pronunciationwise?

Posted by: jessamyn | August24, 2006

Thanks everyone for your well-wishes. And to answer Steve's question, he's still Mr. Jan. I had to look up TIWWOP, but found that it stands for "Thread Is Worthless Without Pictures." I don't think that's true. My intention in posting was not to say get "ooh, ahh" reactions to my dress, or our rings, or the setting. It was primarily about the name-change. I have chosen consciously not to post pictures of my significant other, per his wishes, and will continue to respect that wish.

TIWWOP! Congrats!
