Google Health? Not yet.

There are two basic types of questions that librarians tread very carefully with: legal and health related (not counting all those questions about politics/religion/racism/sexism that we quietly attempt to ignore).  Should search engines tread just as lightly arond these topics?  We'll see.

Google was reportedly quietly testing Google Health.  Articles on the USA Today blog, Search Engine Watch, and Infoworld hinted that a big announcement would happen at Google Press Day on the 10th.  So it did.  But it's not Google Health.  It's called Google Co-op, which lets you create specialized search filters in Google (like health info) plus some other features.  Google's official page for Google Co-op is up.  Here's more on this tool from Search Engine Watch

And, if you're interested, you can view the Google Press Day on video.  Perhaps I should go to their next press day.  I'm darn close to their headquarters.  Why not have a librarian present? :)
