OCLC Top 1000 books
OCLC's Top 1000 books list is out for 2005. The top ten can be viewed separately. The full 1000 are also available for viewing. I am amused by the fact that a Garfield comic outranks all Shakespeare except for Hamlet.
I still believe, as I've said before time and time again, that this list has limited usefulness as many libraries choose not to or cannot afford to upload their holdings into OCLC, so the list is somewhat biased toward urban and well-off libraries. I wonder how programs like the California Libraries Catalog project (offering a one-time free upload of a library's records into OCLC) will affect the accuracy of the holdings
