Trend Micro reports a new worm (Jitux) that spreads through MSN Messenger. It is reportedly harmless to infected machines. Is there any hope that Microsoft will ever build a secure piece of software? *I do believe, I do believe, I do believe*

The "inventor" of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee, has been knighted for his technological contributions. Berners-Lee is currently head of the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). Good job Sir Tim! Without you I wouldn't have a job!

RFID tags and Bessie...

In the wake of all this mad-cow craziness (hey, good time to be a vegetarian), cows will be getting RFID-tagged for new tracking systems in those beef-producing nations that have been slow to introduce a system, the US being one of them. According to a ComputerWorld article, Allflex USA Inc. and Digital Angel Corp. in the U.S. and Aleis International Pty. Ltd. in Australia have the inside track on providing the tags and readers to major beef-producing nations that have instituted national electronic livestock ID systems. Beef, books, it's all the same, right?

Sparkle & Stingray--These Are Microsoft Products?

Now this is just frelling hilarious. Apparently, Microsoft develops codenames for all their products when they're still in the development phase. Wouldn't want anyone guessing the new combination of letters & numbers that will append the new version of Windows, now would we? Thanks to Lockergnome for this site!

Wearable Mouse

Samsung is claiming they now have a wearable mouse, dubbed "Scurry," which allows users to roam around the screen by freely moving their fingers around in the air. Because of the high cost of production, Samsung is holding off on releasing the item for sale. Incidentally, why does all the cool stuff get invented in Asia? Are US tech companies really that lame?

Armed with an almanac?

In an Associated Press article, it is reported that police have been warned to be on the lookout for patrons carrying almanacs. The popular reference books have been targeted as possible terrorist resources. In a bulletin sent to over 18,000 police agencies, the FBI said that terrorists may use the almanacs "to assist with target selection and preoperational planning." Ahh Mr. Ashcroft, will the fun never end?
